6In a decisive action against narcotic smuggling under the ongoing anti-drug drive, Faridkot police has allegedly apprehended a habitual drug peddler and reportedly recovered 600 gram heroin along with drug money.
SSP Faridkot Gurbans Singh Bains said that the CIA staff Jaito team was on routine patrolling and checking of suspicious persons when a youth carrying a bag was allegedly spotted under suspicious circumstances. On being intercepted by the police party, he was allegedly found in possession of 600 gram heroin, Rs 5100 alleged drug money, one empty bag and two mobile phones.
The accused has been identified as Pushpinderpreet Singh alias Sikander, son of Harmesh Singh, resident of Badhni Kalan, district Moga.
In this regard, a case FIR No 140 dated 27.08.2026 under sections 21-C/61/85, 27-A/61/85 of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bajakhana.
SSP Faridkot Gurbans Singh Bains said that during preliminary scrutiny of the criminal background of the accused, it has allegedly come to light that he is a habitual offender and as many as six cases under NDPS Act, Arms Act and other serious offences are already registered against him in district Moga.
The accused was also allegedly absconding in three other cases in district Moga and Ludhiana and was declared a proclaimed offender.
SSP Faridkot said that the accused is being produced before the court and his police remand is being obtained for thorough interrogation to establish his backward and forwards links.
“The SSP further said that Faridkot police is pursuing a zero tolerance policy against drug trafficking and such operations will continue to dismantle the entire nexus.
