A grand Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the great Sufi saint, Baba Sheikh Farid Ji, was organized today as part of the Aagman Purb 2026 celebrations.
The spiritual procession, marked by deep devotion and communal harmony, commenced from Tilla Baba Farid and concluded peacefully at Mai Godri Sahib.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Faridkot, Gurbans Singh Bains (PPS), actively participated in the holy event.
As the procession reached the Faridkot Police Lines, a contingent of police personnel offered a ceremonial and respectful salute to the palanquin. Welcoming the Nagar Kirtan with a shower of flower petals, the police officials paid profound obeisance to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
SSP Bains bowed his head in reverence, offering prayers for the welfare of all (Sarbat da Bhala), and honored the *Panj Piaras (the Five Beloved Ones) by presenting them with Siropaos (robes of honor).To serve the thousands of participating devotees, the Faridkot Police administration organized a special langar(community kitchen).
Showcasing a spirit of humility, various police officers and personnel actively participated in the sewa (selfless service), distributing food to the sangat.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Gurbans Singh Bains highlighted that the spiritual verses (Bani) of Baba Sheikh Farid Ji are a profound source of humanity and service. “We are deeply grateful for the opportunity not only to participate in this sacred Nagar Kirtan but also to offer a salute of respect to the Guru Sahib,” said SSP Bains. He noted that the police department went beyond its duty of maintaining law and order to connect emotionally with the devotees.
He further emphasized that the holy land of Baba Farid is a timeless symbol of unity and brotherhood, where people of all faiths stand shoulder to shoulder. He concluded by extending his warmest greetings to the entire community on the auspicious occasion of the Baba Farid Aagman Purb.
