3 arrested with 16 quintals of poppy husk,canter seized-Pragya jain SSP Faridkot

The Faridkot police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested 3 persons and recovered about 16 quintals of poppy husk filled in the 73 bags.

The police said that they have arrested Gurmeet Singh, a resident of village Chaina of Jaitu Sub Division,Salwinder Singh, a resident of Bholu Wala road Faridkot and Sukhpal Singh, also a resident of Sanjay Nagar Faridkot.

Gurmeet Singh is said to be the driver of the cancer, impounded by the police which was allegedly used to transport the said haul of poppy husk.

“The police teams were on patrol on National Highway (NH-15) when they happened to see a canter with register no PB-03-BF 8592 in suspicious circumstances outside a closed roadside eatery on the Bathinda-Kotkapura national highway.When the police parties searched the canter, it found about 73 bags of poppy husk loaded into which weighs about 16.10 kilograms,”reads the press note issued by the SSP Faridkot Pragya Jain today.

The police arrested all the three accused from the spot and the canter has been seized also.

The three accused are being p[resented into the court and further investigation would be carried out to check their backwards and forwards links.

A case against the three has been registered at police station Bajakhana under section15(C) and 16/85 of NDPS act.

This is one of the biggest drug seizures in the district during the campaign “War Against Drugs”.
