Nominations by May 16,scrutiny on May 18 and withdrawal of nominations on 19.
The voting would start ON mAY 26 at 8 AM at 167 polling booths in the district and continue till 5 PM
“As per the schedule released by the state election commission,Faridkot is fully prepared to have the elections of its 3 municipal committees in a transparent,fair and unbiased manner,” said Rahul Chaba,DC Faridkot in a press release to the media today.
“The nomination papers can be filed upto May 16 between 11 AM and 3 PM while the nomination papers would be scrutinised on May 18.The candidates can withdraw the nominations on May 19.The voting would take place on May 26 from 8 AM to 5 PM,” the DC said.
About 168900 voters would exercise their right of franchise in the district.
There are 25 wards in the municipal committee Faridkot and 65 polling booths.
In Kotkapura, 29 wards and 66 polling booths are there.
While Jaitu has 17 wards and 32 polling booths.
Total,there are 71 wards and 163 polling booths are there in the district.
Gender ratio in the electorate:
There is also an alarming gap between the men and women votres.
There are about 88293 male voters, but there are only 80294 female voters in the district.
The number of women is almost 8000 lower than the men.
According to the census 2011,Punjab had a sex ratio of about 895 females after 1000 males.
