About Us

About us

My 15 years journey as a journalist, tops and flops, trust and mistrust, some friends and acquaintances turned strangers.

I had regularly joined The Hindustan Times in 2010 and then was soon promoted as a staff reporter.I had contributed to the Esteemed National daily for about 6 years, from Faridkot and Muktsar on all kinds of issues, social, political, agriculture, education, medical education and many more. But I could not walk along the changed circumstances much long since 2014 and had to resign in 2016.

Then there was some vacuum glaringing at me. There was a journalist in me but I did not find a platform to express myself for some time.Financial and times factor was also there besides my view about journalism.

Again, very unfortunately, I missed another opportunity of regular job in another leading English daily, where I had topped the examination and interview conducted by the organization because I was asked to report only to local bureau chief instead of reporting to head office. One in the field of journalism can easily guess what could be the result of reporting to a single person locally where any news can be a stillbirth. It came knocking at mu=y door soon after I quit my job. There was again a hidden conditional compromise.

Finally, I began to contribute to the The Punjab Tribune news portal, a Jalandhar based portal run by Sh Rajeev Bhaskar ji.

But again some problems of updating and publishing news forced me to explore some other way.

In the meantime, my friend Sardar Nirmal Singh Sadhwanwalia came to my help and I am able to start my own news portal,The Punjab Express.com.

My sincere thanks to Mr Nirmal Sadhanwalia, Mr Ramesh Vinayak, Sr Resident Editor of the Hindustan Times, who picked up me, shown full faith on me and gave my reports best place in the newspaper.I am also thankful to Mr Rajeev Bhaskar with whom I have worked by January 2025.

I am also thankful to some of my journalist friends who are still true friends and apart from those, I am also thankful to those friends who worked closely with me following policy of use and throw and then showed pity on me when I was jobless.

The saddest part of life has been that whom I trusted so much so that I shared everything with them, they, when I had quit my job, immediately, taken me to a mistrust lest I should not pose a threat to their job .However, as a good human being, I still respect them.

I am also regretful that if I had not upheld the moral and journalistic values at the highest level ,with no compromise with them, I would have still been a regular full time journalist getting a good salary. I had to go because there was a single time when I had compromised with the ethics of journalism and moral values. No personal favoritism or even a cup of tea was asked for any story.

At The Punjab Express.com

As my main source of income is agriculture, I shall try my best to update my website regularly. There would be no bias,no partiality and no favours to anyone. No advertisement or revenue would be demanded or collected. All are welcome to me with their problems so that I can, as far as possible, raise those.

Time and financial restraints may be there, but I shall try to wade through.

I can not write more words about the future as It is always unpredictable and what luck could have in store for me.You can imaigne how difficult it is to write the truth when India ranks at 159th,out of 180 countries according to the World Press Freedom Index 2024.

Thanks a lot.
