The Government of India has selected Faridkot district for implementing fertilizer distribution through the Fertilizer Supply Application System (FSAS) as a pilot project. Under this initiative, farmers in Faridkot district will purchase fertilizers through an online portal.The Government of India is launching a portal called Framework for Fertilizer Sale (FFS), through which farmers will be able to purchase fertilizers. Training programs are being organized for both farmers and fertilizer dealers regarding the new system.As part of this initiative a workshop was conducted for fertilizer dealers from the Kotkapura and Jaito. Addressing the participants Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Block Agriculture Officer, Kotkapura explained that farmers will now have to apply for fertilizers through the portal. After submitting their application, a token will be generated. This token will remain valid for two days and farmers can use it to obtain fertilizers from the concerned dealer or cooperative society. Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Kulwant Singh stated that farmers must first create a Farmer ID before they can apply for fertilizers through the portal. He further informed that the Agriculture Department is organizing camps in villages to facilitate the creation of Farmer IDs. Farmers can also obtain their Farmer IDs by visiting cooperative societies or Common Service Centres (CSCs).He appealed to fertilizer dealers to encourage and assist their associated farmers in obtaining Farmer IDs through CSC centres.During the training session Dr. Girjesh Bhargav, Chief Inspector Fertilizer Punjab assured the dealers that there would be no shortage of fertilizers in Faridkot district. He also stated that any issues arising during the implementation of the system would be addressed on a priority basis. The training program was attended by Dr. Ranbir Singh (Nodal Officer) Assistant Cane Development Officer, Faridkot, Dr. Gurmughar Singh,Agriculture Development Officer (DW Kotkapura), Dr. Princedeep Singh, Agriculture Development Officer (PP Kotkapura) along with a large number of fertilizer dealers from the Kotkapura and Jaito Mandi
