The Faridkot police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested main accused Prem Chand just two hours after the Faridkot woman’s murder was reported to the police.
The police have arrested Prem Chand son of Badri Nath, resident of Sodhian wali Gali of Mohalla Jania Faridkot.
“The police had registered a case against the unidentified persons on the complaint of Pradeep Kalra, a resident of Mohalla Jania on Monday.The complainant had stated to the police that he is a teacher and he had left his home at 7.30 am as usual along with his 10 and 18 years old children. When he came home at 2.10 PM, there was no answer from his house as his wife usually came out to support him,” said Pradeep Kalra.
“When there was no answer, I called out to my sister in law and when she entered the house, she saw my wife,Neetu,about 45, lay in a pool of blood on the floor,’ alleged Pradeep, who is himself a government school teacher and his wife physically challenged like him.
The police teams had immediately rushed to the spot under DSP Tarlochan Singh, of SD Faridkot.
“On the basis of technical based intelligence and human input, We have arrested the accused.He has been identified as Prem Chand son of Badri Nath of the same locality.He had often visited the house of the accused and was in habit of making small thefts.On Monday, he entered the house in a calculated manner and murdered Neetu with a sharp edged weapon and decamped away with Rs 44000 cash from an almira of the house,” said Jogeshwer Singh Goraya, SP(D) Faridkot briefing the media today.
“He is being produced in the court and further investigation is on,” said SP(D) Faridkot.
The complainant had alleged that his neighbour Bhushan Kumar told him that he saw Prem Chand briskly walk out his house at noon.
A case had been registered in this regard under section 103,305,333 of BNS at city police station Faridkot.
The press release by the police is not clear whether Rs 44000 cash and weapon used in crime have been recovered yet.
