Farmers are the spine of Punjab’s economy, anndata can’t be left to fend on his own, Dr Baljit Kaur

Minister Dr Baljit Kaur distributes Rs 6 lakh worth cheques as compensation to fire affected 20 farmer families, 480 kg wheat to each family, fodder for animals

–Minister uses her two month’s salary, cooperation from NRIs, villagers to help the farmers in need

-Punjab govt to award compensation at Rs 18,500 per acre to farmers


Extending a helping hand to the farmers of village Sotha and Duhewala, whose ripened wheat crop got charred few days ago, the Minister Dr Baljit Kaur today distributed cheque’s worth Rs 6 lakhs to 20 farmer families. She made the onerous contribution using her salary of two months and with the help of villagers as well as the NRIs. Besides this, she also distrubuted 480 kg of wheat to each family along with fodder for animals.

Addressing a massive gathering at the village Gurudwara Dr Baljit Kaur said that few days ago the farmers of Sotha and Duhewala faced great losses. Sh had e visited the affected farmers in villages and found their condition pitiable.

Cabinet Minister said that farmers are the spine of state’s economy and the anndata can’t be left to fend on his own. She added that every department of Government of Punjab was committed to provide immediate relief to farmers in such adverse situations.

In a compassionate and dedicated gesture, Dr Baljit Kaur had announced of extending financial help to affected farmers personally.

Implementing the announcement, she have her two monrhs’ salary as help to farmeea. Besides this, other villagers and NRIs too pitched in for help.

She distrubuted Rs 30000 cash to each family. Some families refused to take the wheat and same has been handed over to villages’ committees so that needy people can be helped. She added that as per directions of CM Punjab Mr Bhagwant Singh Mann, Rs 18, 500 per acre compensation will be awarded to farmers after damage assessment.

Prominent among others present included chairman market committee Malout Mr Jashan Brar, PA to Minister Arashdeep Singh and others.
