When the Punjab chief minsiter Bhagwant Singh Mann has been badly cornered on the issue of an alleged video, most of the people are not convinced much on that issue.
They say that the intervention by the Supreme Sikh authorities is unwanted as the Mann is a Patit Sikh and the paintings of the Sikh Gurus holds no validity in the Sikh Rehat Maryada.But on the other hand,some say that though he is a Patit Sikh and it is the responsibility of the Supreme Sikh seat to hold him accountable being guilty disrespecting the Gurus.
“This is the last resort taken by all the political parties.Earlier they levelled serious allegations against the Punjab Chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann that he is an alcoholic..But those issues did not gain any ground among the public.So this is the last resort or game played by the rivals to corner Mann.Otherwise, though his lower rung and high command is not allegedly good, he is himself better than others.He has kept his promises and done favours to the middle and lower middle classes.The village level leader culture has been finished and I myself had some case pending against me and feeling much relieved.The cases of the police stations and courts have come down,.Police harassment has not been there’ said Sukhdeep Singh, a man from village Surghuri of Faridkot.
“The political system is turned very bad.It is at the lowest ebb in the politics.The people are getting hurt that what kind of their leaders are like?what kind of the issues they are raising.This is only a vote bank politics.The paintings of the Sikh gurus are not approved in Sikh faith still they are even there in our Gurdwaras.But we can also not say that anybody disrespect those,’ said Sukhjinder Singh, a man from Kotkapura village,Niamiwala.
“Even there is a serious issue of a Dera but nobody,including the AAP are speaking up against those.They are mud slinging at one another,but why are they not speaking ainat he Dera,” said Sukhjinder Singh.
“All the three parties do not have any issue.They should speak about the issues of the state.They want to defame the CM in any way.First of all they levelled the allegations of consuming him alcohol.But it did not work.Now, very unfortunately, they have involved the Jathedars of the five Takhats.This is very unfortunate.They have allegedly lowered their dignity.who appoints them,this is a question?If Mann lost as the CM, the people of the state would not find any CM like him.He is not corrupt.If he had done any corruption, they would have levelled those allegations against him,but this is not the case,’ said Jaswinder Singh, a man from village Ghania of Faridkot district.
“This government has been the worst.They have borrowed more and more loans.They resorted to more freebies.I don’t want free power.But I want it cheap. At lease if I have to pay for it, I shall value it.But it should be cheap.Nothing should be free.They rode on a wave that they would finish the VIP culture.But they have even promoted it more.The corruptions is allegedly there, though not at lower level,” said Ajaypal Singh of wara Daraka.
“The Supreme Sikh authorities are overstepping.First of all, one political party raised the issue of anti Sacrilege law passed by the AAP government led by Mann and it backfired.Now they have taken up the second issue of disrespect to the Sikh Gurus paintings by the Punjab Chief minister.I am a traveller.I have not seen that there are religious pictures or paintings at a hotel room anywhere.They have it, but at the reception,” said a senior professor from Faridkot wishing not to be named.
Though Mann may be in the footage, yet the issue should be raised at the political front by any political party.The intervention by the Jathedars is very unfortunate.The people say that they are the custodians of the Takhats, not any authority in themselves to drag the Supreme Sikh seat in political affairs.
“The politics seems to be dominant the religion.The religion and politics are two different aspects.They must remain separated.But religion seems to be used by politicians,” said Balwinder Singh, a man from Aulakh village of Faridkot district.
“As there is the age of AI and many other tools are being used, the common man can not say anything about the truth of the video footage of Mann,” he said.
But whatsoever it is, the CM is a Patit Sikh, the video seems to be before he becomes CM, selective leakes of the footage, intervention of Five Sikh Jathedars are not making much among the common man.Rather, a particular political party may be back fired by this issue because of involvement of the highest Sikh temporal seat.
Earlier, when the video footage from the assembly showed Mann allegedly dead drunk has not left much negative impression on the minds of the people.
“His presence of mind and knowledge of the political system is unmatched,” said a senior Professor from Faridkot.
