Providing a relief to the commission agents and farmers of the district Faridkot, Punamdeep Kaur,DC Faridkot has instructed the concerned officials to speed up the lifting of the procured grains from the grain markets of the district.
It is pertinent to mention that due to slow lifting, farmers find little space to unload the produce and commission agents have to guard the procured produce round the clock.
“We have procured about 264848 LMT of wheat out of the total arrival of 295228 LMT in all major grain markets and grain rural yards of the district .Pungrain is topping the procurement list with its procurement of about 59766LMT, followed by Markfed with procurement of 58270, Punsup 52650 and Warehouse 28665,” said DC Faridkot in a press release to the media today.
THe DC said that private players have procured about 65287 LMT of wheat and are trailing behind all.
She assured the farmers that each and every single grain of the produce would be lifted by the government.
Concerned about environmental pollution, the DC also appealed to the farmers that they should prioritize ploughing the whole stubble of wheat into the fields instead of resorting to burning, which is banned.
“It improves the quality of the soil and next crops give higher yields. The preservation of the environment is our joint responsibility and we should try to keep the environment pollution free,” said Poonamdeep Kaur,DC Faridkot.
She further asked the farmers not to operate the combine harvesters before 10 AM and after 7 PM so that the produce harvested would be free of moisture.
