MLA Faridkot Gurdit Singh Sekhon and Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson District Cultural Society Rahul Chaba on Friday held a meeting with in-charges of various committees, district officials and representatives of religious and social organizations to review preparations for Baba Sheikh Farid Aagman Purab 2026.
MLA Sekhon said the mela has religious,historical and cultural importance and directed all the concerned to ensure it’s good organization.
DC Faridkot, Rahul Chaba informed that the main mela will be held from September 19 to 23, while the craft mela will be organized from September 19 to 28 at Dana Mandi, Ferozepur Road, Faridkot. He further said special focus will be on food quality and cleanliness with proper dustbins.
The DC said special attractions during the mela will include recitation of Shri Sukhmani Sahib and Ardas, drama, folk dances, exhibition of heritage items, heritage walk and sports competitions.
Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to complete pending works in time.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Keshav Goel said all tenders related to the mela have been completed.
Among others, ADC Sandeep Malhotra, SDMs Punit Sharma, Rajinder Singh and Vikramjit, District Language Officer Manjit Puri, DIO Gurjinder Singh, DEO Anjana Kaunsal and other officials were present.
