Allegedly in a big jolt to the Akali Dal and AAP, more than 100 families from village Sikha Wala from Muktsar district have joined BJP.
Sikhwala falls under the Lambi assembly constituency, earlier being represented by Parkash Singh Badal and now by Gurmeet Singh Khudian, who is cabinet minister in the Bhagwant Mann led AAP government.
The village population is around 4500.
This information was shared by senior BJP leader Bhai Rahul Singh Sidhu, who had been member Punjab Public Service Commission and Halqa In charge of Kotkapura assembly constituency from 2017 to 2022.
“This is a set back to both the SAD which has been representing this constituency for decades and equally to AAP, as it is now being represented by cabinet minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian. More than 100 families from village Sikhwala have joined BJP in my presence,” said Bhai Rahul Singh Sidhu, speaking to this reporter over phone.
“The people are fed up with the other parties in the state. They are now coming forwards to join the BJP because they hope that BJP would take the state forwards. All the traditional parties, which have ruled in the state, turn by turn, left the state in more than 3 lakh crore debt ridden. The AAP had promised to pay Rs 1000 to the women in Punjab to empower them economically, but not a single paise has been paid to them,” said Bhai Rahul Singh.
Singh has said that he has been working very hard to motivate the people to get rid of the other parties which have crushed their dreams by dashing their hopes.
”More families, Member Panchayats and Sarpanches are showing eagerness to join BJP and I would welcome them in the party fold in days to come,” said Bhai Rahul Singh.
It is pertinent to mention that since the last parliamentary elections, the BJP is trying to make inroads in Punjab.
The AAP, which rode on the high tide of expectations, allegedly failed to deliver up to the expectations of the people though it has tried to woo the people by initiating “War Against the Drugs”, “Educational revolution and “nabbing the corrupt” after its debacle in Delhi assembly elections, but the overall narrative, constructed by the party, has not gone down well with the masses.
While Rahul Gandhi, the National leader of congress is fighting on the issues nationally , the state unit of the congress has been missing it.
The SAD is trying to recover but still is very much away from making its presence felt on the ground.
The BJP is eyeing on to fill up this political vacuum, which is left void by the other parties.
