A pully (small bridge over a water channel) at village Bir Sikhan wala has caved in just after the weeks of the competition of the road.
It is pertinent to mention that about a 6-7 KMS stretch of the road, from Panjgrain kalan to Devi Wala to Bir Sikhan wala has just been completed under Pradhan Mantri gram sadak yojana.
Though the construction of the road had to be completed earlier, it dragged on at a small pace allegedly leading to two months of delay.
First the contractor earlier did not construct the walls on either side of the road in village Bir Sikhan Wala, which were constructed after the village residents approached the XEN Public works department.
Then they had also mentioned caving in of the pully in the village in their complaint.
“We had brought it to the notice of the concerned authorities, but pully was not repaired by the contractor.Now has as almost finished the work on the road.Many vehicles, mostly two wheelers ply on the road all the days because the road is a short link to connect Moga road to Faridkot,” said Gurpreet Singh, member of village Panchayat.
“As the pully has caved in about 6 or more inches deep sharply, any vehicle can go off the road getting off the road and may lead to casualties,” said Bhupinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh, residents of the village.
“We want the concerned authorities to instruct the contractor to repair it immediately,’ demanded Anita, the village Sarpanch.
The contractor is responsible for maintenance of the road for 5 years.
The locals also demanded the cleaning of the berms of the road.

Executive engineer PWD, under whosevsupervision the road has been constructed said that he was aware of the matter.
The problem arose when an individual insisted on to lay a pipe under the road for Irrigation purpose.The main layers of the construction material were already laid.So the contractor had to do it.Now I shall get it repaired and where ever there is a problem in the road,the new layer of the premix would be laid.There is absolutely no problem in it,Bikramjeet singh said.
