The Punjab admissions portal for undergraduate courses showing an error as a temporary technical problem and the students can not pay the fees to reserve their seats.

It is pertinent to mention that the admission to the undergraduate courses has to be made through the state level portal.

First, the applicants apply for the admission online on the portal and then the provisional merit list was displayed on June 15th.

The final merit list was displayed on June 17th and then the applicants were offered seats.

“First of all, the applicants apply online and opt about four colleges from the given list of the colleges. Then the merit list is prepared on the basis of the marks obtained by the applicants. After the final merit list is displayed, the applicants know about their ranks at the colleges of their choice. Then they get a text message on their registered mobile number about the offer of the seat,’ said a source.

“I was offered a seat at Government Brijindra college Faridkot, but since Saturday,I have been trying to reserve my seat by filling up on line forms and pay my fees. But by Wednesday afternoon, I am unable to pay my fees,” said a student aspiring to get admission to B.Com First year.

Narinder Singh, admission coordinator at govt Brijindra College Faridkot said,’ yes, there is a problem with the portal. We have been continuously contacting the higher authorities. When the portal is working, you would be informed,” he said.

“This is a state level problem.I don’t think that this is allegedly a technical problem.Might be due to some other entrance tests, someone may have stopped the admissions.Because, some intelligent students sit in many competitive exams and they reserve their seats in undergraduate courses. If they are admitted to the other courses, they stand on roll calls on the college but they don’t submit in writing that they have joined some other courses and they vacate their seat.Initially, there are many admissions, but finally, many seats are left vacant at the end of the year,” claimed a senior teaching faculty wishing not to be named.

He claimed that the technical glitch could be solved very shortly because of AI and so many field experts.

“I had mailed to the the concerned office and they said that you submit the 10th and 12th grade certificate of the applicant and within 24 hours, you would be informed about the confirmation of the seat. But still there is no reply.By Wednesday afternoon, the portal is non functional,” said a man running digital service centre at Kotkapura.

The admissions had officially started from June 19 and would continue till June 26.But by June 24, the Punjab admissions portal was not accepting the fees supposed to be paid by the admission aspirants leaving them in lurch.
