Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian inaugurated the state’s first Plant Health Clinic and Farmer Advisory and Training Center in Faridkot today.

Built at a cost of approximately ₹30 lakh, the facility was inaugurated in the presence of Faridkot MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon.

Established under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the clinic aims to provide farmers with localized, expert technical advice on crop diseases, pest control, weed management, and other agricultural challenges under one roof.

Khudian stated that subject-matter experts deployed at the clinic will guide farmers in the scientific use of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides based on the actual condition of their crops. This targeted approach will help curb the unnecessary use of agricultural inputs, thereby reducing farming costs and increasing overall profitability for the farmers. In addition to diagnostic services, the center will serve as a hub for technical training on modern farming techniques, allied agricultural occupations, and highly profitable, low-cost crops.

The minister also highlighted the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts to provide subsidized machinery to farmers for effective crop residue and stubble management. Following the inauguration, Khudian visited the State Agmark Laboratory. He later visited the revered Tilla Baba Farid to pay his obeisance and pray for the welfare of all. The event was attended by local administration and senior agriculture department officials.
