The sidewall of the Panjgrain Kalan to Bir Sikhan wala road has collapsed in village Bir Sikhan Wala.

“The side wall could not withstand the pressure of the first heavy rainfall occurred last night and collapsed. The wall along the fields of Major Singh,Chamkaur Singh, Avtar Singh, Gurmeet Singh etc has collapsed last night,” said Chmakaur Singh, a retired lecture from village Bir Sikhan Wala, of the district.

The wall has damaged neally about 700 feet at four or five stretches.

The road had been constructed last year under the PM Gram Sadak Yojna and as the road had not space for the berms, a side wall to support the road from caving had to be constructed at places in the fields.

“The contractor has also not laid carpet layer on a Pulley in Bir Sikhan Wala village despite many requests of the village Panchat,” Chamkaur Singh said.

“The pulley is so far Kucchi, levelled with mud and it can lead to an accident at any time.we have made requests to the concerned authorities many times, but to no avail,’ Chmakur alleged.

The road was constructed under the supervision of Punjab Mandi Board Faridkot.
