“The two among the arrested are truck drivers and the son of the kingpin of the cow smuggling gang who allegedly caught cows from nearby places,” Jasmeet Singh,SP investigation Faridkot.
The kingpin of the cow smuggling gang has about 8 such cases registered against him besides one cheating in Bathinda and Faridkot-Faridkot police.

The Faridkot police have claimed to have arrested 3 accused in an attempted cow smuggling case, booked three unidentified persons besides the kingpin of the cow smuggling gang.
The police have also seized a truck in which about 18 cows had been loaded to transport them allegedly for slaughtering.
“The Faridkot police was informed by Mahant Gharib Das of Kotkapura, who is the general secretary of Cow Protection Team Punjab that some people, allegedly headed by the kingpin Gurmail Singh, a resident of Dhaipai village of Faridkot who
allegedly had formed a gang to catch the stray cows from around and then smuggle them to other states allegedly for slaughtering,’ reads the press note issued by Pragya Jain,.SSP Faridkot to the media today.
The complainant said that when his team intercepted a truck near Bajakhana, it found that 18 cows had been loaded onto it.
“The police swiftly acted and two truck drivers and the son of the kingpin of the gang was arrested from the spot,” said Jasmeet Singh,SP investigation speaking to the media.
“We were informed that they may be heading towards Amritsar,” he said.
“The rescued cows have been shifted to the cow sheds in the district while the three accused are on police remand for further investigation,” he said.
The police have arrested Jagmeet Singh son of Gurmail Singh ,resident of village Dhaipai besides Mukhtar Ahamad, a resident of village Ghangot district Udhampur and Lal Khan of district Jammu(Jammu and Kashmir)
The kingpin of the allegedly cow smuggling gang Gurmail Singh and three unidentified persons are still on large.
Gurmail Singh alias Babbu has about 9 cases registered against him from February 2012 till date under various sections of cow slaughter and cheating acts under erstwhile IPC.
These cases have been registered in two districts, Faridkot and Bathinda, according to the information provided by the police to the media today.
A fresh case has been registered against the 7 accused at police station Sadar Faridkot under sections 111(3),298,325,61(2)BNS,sections 11,12 Prevention of cruelty to animals act. Sections 3,4 and 8 of the Punjab Prohibition of cow slaughter act 1955.
