Raghbir Singh Brar Faridkot The Punjab state agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Thursday has said that according to the assessment made by the state agriculture department, about 1.30 lakh acres of crops,including the wheat and vegetables have been devastated by the downpour,heavy rains accompanied by hail storms across the state. Raghbir Singh Brar Faridkot The district police has booked a lawyer from Moga district on the complaint of one Gurpreet Kaur daughter of Sarabjit Singh, resident of Mirza Patti village Panjgrain kalan. The complainant had alleged that the accused, who is an advocate, had allegedly cheated her of Rs 10.25 lakh on the pretext of sending abroad. The incident had taken place in August 2022. The district police, after the investigation of the complaint has registered a case against the accused under section 420 of IPC at Sadar police station Kotkpaura.

Raghbir Singh Brar Faridkot Deputy commissioner Faridkot Punamdeep Kaur has urged the farmers not to harvest wet crops and bring the moisture laden produce to the grain markets of the district. “The farmers should harvest the crop in the daytime and bring the paddy produce with only 17 percent of moisture content which is permissible.The  wet produce leads to  glut in the grain markets as it can not be purchased as per the specification of the government procurement agencies,” she said.
