Deputy commissioner Faridkot Punamdeep Kaur on Thursday chaired a meeting of the owners of paddy straw balers, officials of pollution control board, agricultural officers and representatives of Sukhbir biomass energy limited, Sedha Singh Wala where the paddy bales are sold and burnt to produce energy.
The DC said that it must be ensured in the district that no incidents of paddy stubble burning take place., “Stubble burning causes environmental pollution, destroys the structure of the soil and leads to many health issues. So we have provided subsidized machinery to handle the stubble burning. Paddy balers are very useful among those techniques. The farmers should avail the paddy stubble balers and do not burnt stubble, ” said Punamdeep Kaur, DC Faridkot., She also heard the problems of the paddy baler operators/owners and assured them all kind of help. She instructed the representatives of the Sukhbir energy biomass limited to cooperate with the paddy baler owners.
