As there is hardly any check on the people dumping debris along the roadsides or at vacant places, some allegedly unknown people on Thursday tried to smooth the badly broken patch of Devi Wala road by dumping debris.

However, this is not a solution and rather a creation of another problem.

Earlier, the people had to travel through the flooded patch of this road near the STP, now they have to travel on the stony debris.

It is allegedly a failure of the system.

When contacted, Bhupinder Singh Saaggu, president of the municipal committee Kotkpaura about it, he said that it was wrong.

“It iss wrong. The problem is in our notice. The tendering process has been done and we shall soon repair the broken road,” Saggu said.

But who allowed these people to dump trolley loads of Debris on the broken stretch, is not known as they also tried to level it.

Garbage allegedly being dumped along NH -15?

Today some trolley loads of the garbage were seen being dumped on the space of the National Highway Authority, near the crossroads of Dehiwala and NH -15.

There was a JCB pushing down the dumped garbage while a trolley load of garbage was seen at the palace.Earlier too, some trollies of the garbage had allegedly been dumped.

When contacted, Bhupinder Singh Saggu,President of the local municipality expressed his ignorance about it.

“We dump the garbage near Dera Darya Giri, I am not aware that something of this sort has been done,” said Saggu.

When contacted,EO,Amrit, who also holds the charge of the MC Kotkapura said that he did not go to Kotkpaura today.

“I can check it and will revert to you in ten minutes,” he said.

But even after an hour, he did not come up with his comment.

“Actually, the MC Kotkapura does not have a proper space to dump garbage. Earlier, they used to dump it on a plot on Muktsar road. Then due to some problem, they shifted the dumping on a pond. But as the pond was filled up with garbage, the locals protested against it because their houses and shops had to face water submersion. So the garbage was not lifted for about a week.May be, the MC tried to find some temporary arrangements to get rid of town garbage,” said Rajiv Sharma, a local.

The town has been struggling to find a garbage dump. Earlier, some government space was selected near Bir Chahal where a garbage treatment plant was to be set up.But that project also rammed into problems and no such treatment plant could come up in the district.
