“Nasha Mukti Yatra”(drug free Punjab campaign) is going to be stared from May 7 in the district.During this campaign, three villages of the each assembly segment would be covered daily and concerned officers have been instructed to complete this task,” said Punamdeep Kaur,DC Faridkot,in a press release today.
The campaign has been launched by the Punjab government to educate the masses about the destructive effects of drugs and the families,victims and all related to the victim.
“In each programme under this campaign, the village level people will be actively involved where the experts would deliver them the lectures about the bad effects of the drugs, apart from handling the victims, how to bring them out of the drug addiction by counselling, admitting them to drug-de addiction centres and further help them to start some vocation so that they can start a normal life after rehabilitation,” the DC said in a press note.
She also informed that the number of the beds in the district hospitals for de-addiction has been increased from existing 50 to 200.
She further appealed to the locals to come forwards with the information of the drug smugglers and victims so that legal action may be taken against the suppliers/smugglers and victims can be helped to overcome addiction by counselling and de-addiction by medicines.
