DC Faridkot Punamdeep Kaur, exercising her rights under section 163 of BNS Sanhita, has imposed a ban on the sale of Pregabalin salt above 75 mg in any form of tablets or capsules.
The painkiller, which is used to relieve the patients of spinal cord etc related pain, is being consumed as a drug by the drug addicts, it has been leant.
“No chemist would sell any medicine which contains Pregabalin above 75 mg without the prescription of the registered medical practitioner. The chemist would also ensure that the prescribed drug is not purchased multiple times by the buyer. All the related information would be maintained by the chemist.
What is Pregabalin (by Mayo Clinic)
Pregabalin is used with other medicines to help control partial-onset seizures (convulsions) in the treatment of epilepsy in patients 1 month of age and older. This medicine will not cure epilepsy and will only work to control seizures for as long as you continue to take it.
Pregabalin is also used for postherpetic neuralgia (pain that occurs after shingles) and pain caused by nerve damage from diabetes or a spinal cord injury.
Pregabalin capsule and oral liquid are also used to treat a condition called fibromyalgia (muscle pain and stiffness).
Pregabalin works in the central nervous system (CNS) to control seizures and pain. It is an anticonvulsant and neuropathic pain agent.
This medicine is available only with your doctor’s prescription.
Songs promoting alcohol, objectionable posters banned DC
The DC Faridkot,Punjamdep Kaur, in a separate order has also banned the songs etc which promote drugs or alcohol/provoke violence in the district.
The DC has also banned the objectionable (semi naked/half naked) objectionable posters of films etc. in the district.
The DC has also imposed a ban on the use of loudspeakers at religious places before 15 days of commencement of examinations.
