Mountaineer and trek leader Gurpreet Singh Sidhu has added another impressive achievement to his record by successfully summiting the 6,178-meter-high Shinkun East peak.
Hailing from the village of Hari Naun in the Faridkot district, Sidhu led the challenging expedition alongside team members Parvinder Singh from Uttarakhand and Tarun Dev Singh from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The high-altitude journey commenced on September 17 from the Manali Base Camp.
The team steadily advanced to the Shinkun East Base Camp the following day, utilizing the time to acclimatize and prepare for their final, rigorous ascent. Setting out at the break of dawn on September 19, the mountaineers faced a grueling 12-hour climb.
Their resilience and teamwork paid off as they conquered the towering Himalayan peak before safely navigating their descent back to base camp later that evening.
This summit is the latest addition to Sidhu’s extensive and globally recognized mountaineering portfolio. The seasoned trek leader has previously completed multiple expeditions to the Everest Base Camp.
He has also successfully hoisted the flag on Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, as well as Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe. The successful completion of the Shinkun East expedition stands as yet another proud and memorable milestone for Sidhu, his team, and the regional mountaineering community.
