FRAUDSTER WHO MISLED PEOPLE BY POSING AS A FAKE POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED BY FARIDKOT POLICE

   Under the leadership of Dr. Pragya Jain, IPS, SSP Faridkot, Faridkot Police has achieved an important success in its ongoing campaign against anti-social elements by arresting a person who was misleading people by posing as a fake police officer. This information was shared by Sh. Jogeshwar Singh Goraya, SP (Investigation), Faridkot.

   Faridkot Police achieved this success under the direct supervision of Sh. Avtar Singh, DSP (Investigation), Faridkot, in which the teams of CIA Staff Faridkot and Police Station Sadar Faridkot played an important role.

   The arrested accused has been identified as Gurmangat Singh son of Baldev Singh, a resident of Village Rattakhera, District Fatehabad, Haryana. The police team recovered a Toyota Urban Cruiser car and fake ID cards of a Sub-Inspector of Haryana Police from the accused.

   Sharing the operational details, he stated that on 06 March, ASI Ravi Kant, along with the police party, were present at Hi-Tech Naka near Village Tehna when they signaled a Toyota Urban Cruiser car to stop. The driver of the car claimed that it belonged to a High Court Judge. When asked to show his driving licence, he instead showed an identity card of a Sub-Inspector of Haryana Police in the name of Gurmangat Singh. However, he could not give any satisfactory answer regarding his posting and started arguing. Thereafter, with the intention to harm, he attempted to run over a police employee with the vehicle and fled from the spot.

   As soon as the information of the incident was received, Faridkot Police immediately set up naka checking across the district and started searching for the accused. During this operation, ASI Raj Singh, along with the police team, arrested the accused along with the vehicle from Bir Chahal area.

   The SP (Investigation), Faridkot further stated that during the investigation it came to light that the accused had prepared several other fake identity cards. Apart from this, he had installed a flasher light on his car and affixed fake stickers of High Court judges on the vehicle.

   Furthermore, Faridkot Police is conducting a detailed investigation in the matter to ascertain what other activities were carried out by the accused and whether any other person was involved in this act of fraud.

   In this regard, FIR No. 62 dated 06.03.2026 has been registered against the accused at Police Station Sadar Faridkot under Sections 109, 132, 221 of the BNS, and later Sections 336(2), 336(3), 340(2) of the BNS were also added.

   Faridkot Police continues to take strict action against anti-social elements and is performing its duty with full honesty and determination. Under this, a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against such elements.
