Under a unique initiative of the Punjab government, the toppers of the class 10th and 12th were provided an opportunity to spend a special day with the DC and SSP Faridkot,Punamdeep Kaur and Pragya Jain today so that they can have an experience of the life of the civil servants, who are selected through a very tough competition of the India Administrative Services conducted by UPSC.
The IAS,IPS and many other grade one officers are selected through the civil services examinations ,preliminary and mains held by UPSC every year.
The government aims to encourage the students to be aspirants of the civil services examinations by providing them an opportunity to be with IAS and IPSs in the districts of the state.
“The 6 toppers of the district spent a day with the DC and SSP Faridkot under this programme and learnt about the working of the civil servants and their administrative duties etc. The 5 girl and 1 boy who topped the class 10th and 12th namely,Akshnoor Kaur,Jashanpreet Kaur and Gurleen Kaur(from 10th)besides Diljeet Kaur,Navpreet Kaur and Kuldeep Sharma enjoyed the company of the DC and SSP Faridkot,” reads the press note issued to the media by DPRO Faridkot today.
The students were welcomed by the DC and SSP Faridkot at the residence of the DC Faridkot in the morning.
The DC and SSP in a joint statement lauded the initiative of the state government saying that this scheme would be a very motivative to the toppers to fly high in their careers and sit for the civil services examinations to serve the country.
The students also thanked the state government for providing them this opportunity so that they could learn about the administrative and police duties of the IAS and IPS officers.
The DC Faridkot Punamdeep Kaur told the toppers about how to materialize their high dreams in the career of the administrative services while SSP Faridkot Pragya Jain told the present students about her journey to the IPS and made them have a glance at the duties of the police.
