Under the directions of Sh. Gaurav Yadav IPS, Hon’ble DGP, Punjab, and the guidance of Sh. Harjeet Singh IPS, DIG Bathinda Range, continuous action is being taken against anti-social elements. In continuation of this drive, under the supervision of Dr. Jyoti Yadav IPS, SSP Bathinda, and under the leadership of Sh. Jasmeet Singh PPS, SP (Investigation) Bathinda, Sh. Harvinder Singh Sran, PPS, DSP Bathinda Rural and Sh. Sandeep Singh Bhati, DSP (Investigation) Bathinda, the above-mentioned case was registered on 11.02.2026. In this regard, the police teams of Police Station Sadar Bathinda and CIA Staff-1 achieved a major success by solving the blind murder case.
On 11.02.2026 at about 1:00 PM, the SHO of PS Sadar Bathinda received an information that a semi-burnt unidentified body of a young woman was lying inside a suitcase near village Behman Diwana. A case was immediately registered and investigation was initiated. To solve the case two CCTV investigation teams were constituted under the supervision of Sh. Jasmeet Singh PPS, SP (Investigation) Bathinda, Sh. Harvinder Singh Sran, PPS, DSP Bathinda Rural, and Sh. Sandeep Singh Bhati, DSP (Investigation) Bathinda.
Various investigation teams included two CCTV teams were constituted, teams of PS Sadar Bathinda and CIA Staff-1 worked tirelessly using technical sources and human intelligence. On 12.02.2026, the unidentified body was identified as Sapna alias Malika daughter of Shinder Pal, resident of Bhagha Purana, District Moga. During examination of CCTV footage, the deceased was last seen on 07.02.2026 at about 9:44 PM in Parasram Nagar, Bathinda. Technical analysis of the deceased’s mobile phone was conducted and around 10–15 suspicious persons were examined and interrogated. As a result of sustained efforts, a major breakthrough was achieved and on 13.02.2026 the accused, Prince Kumar son of Suresh Kumar, resident of House No. 37, Village Gulabgarh, District Bathinda, presently residing at Street No. 1B, Surakpeer Road, Bathinda, was arrested.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he was a friend of the deceased. On 09.02.2026, both were together at Street No. 1B, Surakpeer Road, Bathinda. In the early morning of the same day, the accused committed the murder. Thereafter, he attempted to destroy evidence by partially burning the body but failed. On the night of 10.02.2026 and 11.02.2026, he transported the body in a silver Hyundai i20 Grand car number PB-22S-3636 and disposed of it along Malout Road near village Behman Diwana. The vehicle used in the crime and the knife used in the commission of the offence were recovered. No previous criminal case has been found registered against the accused. The accused will be produced before the Hon’ble Court today to obtain police remand for further investigation.
