Operation Prahar 2-0,over 117 suspects rounded up,67 police teams under the supervision of DIG crime and SSP Faridkot hold a flag march in Kotkapaura Monday

Around 117 suspects, with some or other criminal background have been rounded up during operation Prahar 2.0 in district Faridkot,which started from February 9 for 72 hours.

The district police today conducted around 86 raids on the premises or other locations of the persons with criminal background and 117 suspects have been detained.

The operation is also going on at night and 50 checkpoints have been laid in Faridkot district at  night duwi ng which search operation would also be included.

“On February 9, about 67 police teams comprising of about 500 police personnel conducted the operation to instill the feeling of safety in district Faridkot and on February 10, the district police led by DIG Crime Naveen Saini and SSP Faridkot Pragya Jain ,respectively ,also led a flag march in Kotkapura town.The flag march involved about 250 police personnel from security and traffic,” states the press note released by the Faridkot police today.

“During the past 24 hours,4 main criminals and 6 of their accomplices have been taken into police custody.18 persons involved in the organised  crimes have also been arrested and 8 accused have been arrested in drug related cases.Apart from it,17 others involved in other crimes have been arrested,” states the press release of the district police on Monday.

Operation Prahar has been launched by the state government to eradicate crime from the state which would go on for 3 days,from February 9 to 11.

About 500 police personnels have been involved in the district to conduct this operation .

117 persons have been rounded up,not arrested in the district,it is pertinent to mention.

What is operation Prahar

According to Gemini,Operation Prahar is a massive,statewide crackdown launched by the Punjab police to dismantle organised crime and gangster networks.

About 12000 police personnels and 2000 police teams have been deployed to conduct the operation ,allegedly to target the ecosystem of about 60 major gangsters,many of them living abroad.

This includes their local associates,who handle their finances,weapons and provide logistic support to commit crimes in the state.
