The Press club Kotkapura, with an initiative of its president  Narinder Bair on Saturday fixed reflectors on all kinds of vehicles in association with Baba Milk, a leading company in the collection of milk and providing its pure by-products across the state.

The members and office bearers of the press club, Surinder Damdami, Rajiv Sharma,Amit Sharma,Megh Raj,Parminder Arora,Chander Garg,Raj Thappar,Ajay Manchanda,Mohar Gill,Ram Krishan,Romi Kapoor, Tarsem Partap Chopra and others welcomed the move.

They said that it is a welcome move by the Press Club Kotkapura to avoid the accidents and most of them assembled at Main Chowk of Kotkapura town to fix reflectors on the vehicles on Saturday the morning.

“We are always committed to the public cause and freedom of press. From time to time, we continue to hold such public awareness events. Now we see many people are killed in road accidents in our state. There are many reasons behind it.Rash driving, bad condition of roads, violation of traffic rules, use of prohibited lights like long beams, overloaded and modified vehicles are behind those.Even we can not deny the use of the drugs while driving. So we chose to fix reflectors on various kinds of vehicles with the help of local traffic police. We see many vehicles run by night without any reflectors and the drivers coming from behind, can not properly see the vehicles going before them,” said Narinder Bair, president of Press club Kotkapura.

Narinder Bair has been elected the president of press club Kotkapura many times unanimously.

Narinder, while speaking about the freedom of press, also admits its limitations where the freedom of press is curbed. “People ask us to hold seminars on the freedom of press, we know it, we are aware of it, but there are limitations which are not within our limits,’ Narinder said earlier speaking about the plight of the journalism nowadays.

Later on the Press Club Kotkapura had a get together meet and dinner for its members.

“We are always busy with our daily schedule. So we want to spare some of our time for ourselves so that we can have fun and discuss our problems and aims. I requested all the members of the press club to meet in the evening for dinner for this purpose,” said Narinder Bair, president of the press club Kotkapura.
