Ensure all drains, sewerage systems and village ponds are cleaned before rainy season-Punamdeep Kaur-DC Faridkot

Deputy commissioner Faridkot Punamdeep Kaur on Thursday instructed all the concerned officials of the departments of the drainage,sewerage and village ponds to clean them before the rainy season starts.

The DC was chairing a meeting of the all concerned officials from the district to take stock of the flood control programme.

“Ensure that all the drains falling within the district Faridkot are cleaned on war footage before the rainy season starts. The local municipalities and concerned officials are instructed to ensure that the sewerage systems in Faridkot,Kotkapura and Jaitu towns are cleaned.Apart from those, the village panchayats and DDPOs and BDPOs are instructed to clean the village ponds before the rainy season so that the people of the district do not face any problem in case of heavy rainfalls,” said DC Faridkot,Punamdeep Kaur,in a press note to the media today.

The DC further instructed the local councils to ensure the regular collection of the garbage from the houses of the locals and streets and roads be cleaned so that no sewerage systems are blocked.

The DC said that the district administration is fully prepared to handle any flood like situation in the district in case of the heavy rainfalls in the approaching Monsoon season.

The toppers of the class 10th and 12th were also present in the office of the DC “under education revolution” scheme of the government.

According to the IMD, heavy rainfalls are expected in the approaching Monsoon season. Last year, some of the villages were badly flooded and drains were allegedly being cleaned after the flood like situation arose at many places.
