Faridkot police arrested the main accused from Mumbai in Rs 2 lakh extortion case

The district police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested one Deepak Sharma son of Satpal Sharma, a resident of Jiwan Nagar Kotkpaura,from Mumbai.

“The accused had been working as salesman at a petrol station in 2020 and the his employer had terminated his service because of some irregularities.The accused had allegedly posted some stories on the social media threatening to eliminate his former employer, his father besides some acquaintance.A complaint in this regard was received and on the instructions of the SSP Faridkot,Dr Pragya Jain and supervision of Jogeshwer Singh Goraya,SP Investigation, the case was investigated which led the arrest of the main accused from Mumbai,” said Ramandeep Singh,SP(NDPS) Faridkot in a media briefing Tuesday.

“The police had earlier arrested his mother Veena Rani on February 12.She also involved in the extortion case.Deepak Sharma was arrested on February 19 from Mumbai and was produced in the Faridkot police for his police remand.Now the court has remanded him to the police custody for two days,” said Ramandeep Singh.

The special teams were formed under Sanjeev Kumar,DSP Kotkpaura to nab him.

The accused allegedly demanded Rs 2 lakh extortion as he had been nursing a  grudge against his former employer.

He had allegedly also made a whatsapp call to the complainant about 6 months back to the complainant.

A case against him aas registered against him under section 308(4)61(2)(defining offences of extortion) of BNS at city police station Kotkapura.

SHO Kotkapura city police station was also present in the PC along with SP NDPS.
