Farmers were also appealed not to burn stubble.

Deputy Commissioner Faridkot Punamdeep Kaur on Thursday said that the government has fixed the moisture content of paddy for procurement at 17 percent and farmers should bring only dry paddy to the markets for simultaneous procurement of their produce.
The Deputy Commissioner has instructed the officials to make the farmers as much aware as possible in this regard so that they do not face any problem while selling their crops in the markets.
She said that till last evening, 4179 metric tonnes of paddy arrived in the district markets, out of which 3773 metric tonnes has been purchased. Of the paddy purchased by yesterday evening, 1971.25 metric tonnes of the produce was purchased by Pungrain, 874.50 metric tonnes by Markfed, 483.75 metric tonnes by PUNSUP, 245 metric tonnes by Punjab State Waewhouse Corporation while only 198 metric tonnes by private traders.
The Deputy Commissioner also strongly appealed to the farmers not to burn paddy straw and its residues to maintain the cleanliness of the environment and fertility of the land. She has further added that paddy harvesting should be done only between 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. The DC said that if the farmers need any kind of information facing any problems or need assistance, they can contact their concerned Secretary Market Committee. Apart from this, all the information is also available on the portal of Punjab Mandi Board, which the farmers can easily access through their mobile or computer.
