The allegedly illegal speed breakers which have come up about two months ago, near Kothe Mour outside a an Ashram, when the 15 KMS stretch of road , constructed under PM Gram Sadak Yojna, was being carpeted is leading to the suffering of the hundreds of commuters on the road daily.

The road connects Kotkapura town to Faridkot district headquarters via Bir Sikhan Wala, Nathewala, and Chahal.. About hundreds of vehicles ply on this road daily. In the harvesting season, the number of vehicles increases considerably.

Apart from it, on a particular date, each month, there is a mela at the place of Baba Kaka Mehar where thousands of devotees come to pay obeisance.

“The people are suffering a lot due to these illegal speed breakers which have just come into existence out of nowhere. Earlier, there was no such speed braker.. A few days ago, two motorcycle-borne youth fell off the vehicle when they did not see these speed breakers and their bike jumped off the road. One of the travelers got head injuries. We all residents of village Bir Sikhan Wala request the district administration to remove these illegal speed breakers,” said Chamkaur Singh, retired lecturer from village Bir Sikhan Wala.

“The speed breakers seem to have been constructed illegally as there is not a school or any public place or cross roads. There is only one Ashram on the allegedly donated land. But still there is no activity. Even if it is, no speed breakers can be constructed on such a road like this,” said Gora Singh, a driver from village Devi Wala.

“Our panchayat member panchayat Gurpreet Singh has also brought this problem to the notice of the senior officials. So we want to remove these obstacles,” said Chamkaur Singh.

“The alleged illegal speed breakers may lead to many road accidents. So for the safety of the thousands of the people of three to four villagers, apart from the far off places, we appeal to the district administration to remove these alleged illegal speed breakers,” said Jaswinder Singh Bunty, husband of the village Sarpanch Anita from Bir Sikhan Wala.

“If the speed breakers come up like this on the main roads, everyone residing along the roads, or business or religious places would construct such speed breakers leading to the problems of the commuters. This precedent should not be set,” said Chamkaur Singh.

If these speed breakers are not removed, frequent road accidents at the place are expected to happen.

Manpreet Singh Dhaliwal,PRO to Speaker PVS Kultar Singh was also pointed towards this problem and assured to solve the problem.

This area falls into the constituency of Kotkapura, which is being represented by Kultar Singh Sandhwan.Even all the sufferers are also from the villages of his constituency.
