Kotkapaura police have claimed to have arrested two accused, who had allegedly stolen a Bolero car in which gold jewelry worth Rs 10 lakh had been placed in dash board by the owner as the car was duly locked.
The incident had reportedly happened on February 26, when the police got a complaint that a Bolero car parked in the parking of a marriage palace on Moga road Kotkapaura was stolen and there were gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh in its dashboard.
“On the directions of the SSP Faridkot, Dr Pragya Jain and under the supervision of Yogeshwar Singh Goraya, SP (D), the Kotkapaura police immediately came into action. We got a clue that the two brothers, habitual offenders, were behind this theft and they had been both arrested from Muktsar road Kotkapaura on a tip off. The police have also recovered all the stolen gold worth Rs 10 lakh and the Bolero car from their possession,’ said Sanjeev Kumar, DSP Kotkapaura addressing the media persons today here in Kotkapaura.
The police have arrested Subash Singh and Manpreet Singh, both real brothers and residents of village Malan of Muktsar district.
A case against them has been registered at city police station Kotkapaura under section 303(2) of BNS.
“The accused have already 8 cases under various sections of IPC and BNS registered against them at various locations. Most of the cases pertain to thefts. They used to sell the car accessories of vehicles like tires after they were stolen and they are on police remand with us now. We are further investigating the case,” said Sanjeev Kumar, DSP Kotkapaura.
