19TH HERITAGE FAIR BATHINDA FROM 20 TO 22 MARCH AT JAIPALGARH VILLAGE: DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

The 19th Heritage Fair will be organized from 20 to 22 March in the heritage village of Jaipalgarh in Bathinda. With the aim of taking this fair to a bigger scale, the self-help groups run by women in Bathinda district will also be given the opportunity to sell their products so that that these women get a pedestal to market their products.

Shri Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda, said while addressing meeting specially convened regarding preparations for the fair. Bathinda District Administration and the Malwa Heritage Foundation together are organizing this fair. Renowned singers will captivate the people with their performances in the fair.

While giving information related to the fair, Shri Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner, added that as earlier traditional games, food, attire, instruments, dance, swings will be the pride of the fair. This time the administration will give a grand form to this fair at the sports stadium, in which swings, stalls etc will also be included. Along with this, shops related to Punjabi attire such as parandas, juttis, phulkari, charkhas etc. will also be set up. Apart from this, traditional games like wrestling, tug of war, kite flying etc. will also be included.

He said that various committees have been formed to conduct the fair smoothly, which include the hospitality committee, welcome committee, committee regarding accommodation arrangements, committee regarding issuing shops, cleanliness, security, food testing related, health related etc.

Praising this fair organized with the cooperation of the Malwa Heritage Foundation, he said that it is a matter of great pride for Bathinda that it has preserved Punjabi traditions through this fair. He appealed to the residents of Bathinda to make a valuable contribution to this preservation and to attend the fair in large numbers. He extended an open invitation to everyone to attend the fair.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Madam Kanchan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Shri Rajdeep Singh Brar, SDM Rampura I.A.S. Shri Sunil Phogat, I.A.S. (U.T.) Madam Harshita, SDM Bathinda Shri Balkaran Singh, SDM Maur Shri Harjeet Atwal, Chief Minister Field Officer Shri Ramanjeet, Shri Harvinder Singh Khalsa President Malwa Heritage and Cultural Foundation, committee member Ram Prakash Jindal besides officers from various departments etc. were present.
