The Faridkot district has even less than 50 per cent of the turnover of the voters, at about 48 percent according to the official release of the district press relation officer on Sunday.

“But voting has  crossed over 52.47 percent. First of all, there was bad weather. The foggy day hit the arrival of the voters to the polling booths. Then, what are the functions of the Block Samiti members and the members of the Zila Parishad, the outgoing members have failed to tell the people what was there their duties and what have they done. Even MLAs and Sarpanches have failed to describe the role of the members of the block samitis and zila Parishads.Theis the tier two and three system connecting the village panchayats and uppermost bodies for the development of the system, but the voters fail to understand that,’ said Jaswant Singh Jass,an advocate in the district courts Faridkot.

“I had spoken  to the voters and they questioned me about what the elected members of zila parishads and block samitis do,we do not know. Then it was Sunday, a lean day for the people,’ Jass said.

“Actually, the respective governments have failed to tell the people and make it apparent the role of the BS and ZP.For the people, the elections of the village Sarpanch and MLAs are more important. They think if the ruling party ,members win, they may have some says otherwise,if the members of the other parties win, they would not have anything to do,” said Mohar Singh Gill, a resident of village Sirsari and senior journalist with a vernacular daily.

“Actually, the people are disappointed with the present AAP as it has failed to keep its promise. They promised to do away with the VIP culture, but now you see many junior leaders of the party leaders are having gunmen and they dictate the terms to the senior offiocers. They promised to eliminate drugs, which is not there, the issue of the sacrilege is there, unemployment is still a bigger issue. So this government has disappointed the common man. They promised to usher in a Badlav(a complete change),but this government has proved to be worse than the previous governments, that is why there there is poor turnout of the voters to the elections of the ZP and BS,’ said Darshan Singh Dhilwwan, the halqa incharge of the congress party from  Jaitu and former Zila Parishad member from zone Bargari.
