Waris Punjab De Launches Anti-Chitta Campaign in Kotkapura; Claims List of 55 Youths Who Allegedly Died Due to Drug Abuse

Carrying forward the anti-drug campaign initiated by Bhai Amritpal Singh Khalsa, the Akali Dal – Waris Punjab De on Saturday launched a war against chitta (heroin/synthetic drugs) from Jeevan Singh Nagar in Kotkapura.

Bhai Rachhpal Singh Sosan, a close aide of Bhai Amritpal Singh and the party’s candidate from Kotkapura for Akali Dal – Waris Punjab De, announced the campaign. He issued a warning to those allegedly involved in selling chitta and assured support to families allegedly affected by drug abuse.

Sosan claimed that the party’s team has identified 14 persons who are allegedly selling chitta in Jeevan Singh Nagar and has prepared a list of 55 youths who allegedly died due to chitta abuse in the area.

He further said that the party is also preparing a list of youths who are allegedly addicted to chitta. According to him, the names of more than 100 youths have surfaced so far. The team plans to counsel them to help them come out of drug addiction.

Sosan alleged that due to alleged unsafe injection practices, around a dozen youths have suffered severe leg infections/rotting, and in one case, a youth allegedly had to undergo amputation of his private part following an injection-related complication. These claims are yet to be verified by medical authorities.

He said the campaign will be extended to the entire Kotkapura town and all villages in the Kotkapura Assembly constituency.

He appealed to the public to support the initiative.
