Deputy commissioner Faridkot Rahul Chaba on Saturday said that it has been learned that some of the voters do not have the required proofs to get them registered as genuine voters during the Special Intensive Revision(SIR), the enumeration phase of which is going on from June 25th.
“During this first phase, the booth level officers(BLOs) would visit each and every home of the district and deliver the voters enumeration forms. The voters are supposed to submit these EF by the required date duly filled up and supported by the required documents,’ said DC Faridkot Rahul Chaba, who is also the district election officer.
According to the ECI’s guidelines, each voter needs to support his claim with three documents from the given list by the ECI.
“But some of the voters do not have the required documents to support their claims. If they don’t submit their claims of being genuine voters, their names would not be registered in the final voters list,” said the DC Faridkot.
“In view of their problems, the Punjab government has decided to waive off all the required fees at the sewa kendra or home delivery from July 1 upto September 30.Anyone who needs the required documents can have them issued by visiting the sewa kendra or availing the door step delivery during that period,” the DC said.
“Such voters would be issued notices during the notice phase commencing from August 3 which would end on September 28,” the DC said.
The final voters list would be published on October 1,2026.
