Bohar Singh Rupian Wala,district president of the BKU Sidhupur-Ekta on Saturday claimed that his union would make all arrangements of seeds,fertilisers and machinery to level the silt deposited fields and sowing the next wheat crop in flood hit areas of Punjab.
“We are making all the arrangements to enable the flood hit farmers to sow the next wheat crop. Our union would provide all the best possible solutions to level the silt deposited fields and arrange for the wheat seeds and fertilizers,” said Bohar Singh Rupian Wala,district president of the BKU Sidhupur-Ekta coneining a special meeting of the union in Faridkot today.
He further demanded Rs 1 lakh compensation for the damaged crops per acre by the floods and another Rs 1 lakh for preparing the fields for the next crop.
“Over 50 lives have been lost in the floods and we urge the government to provide Rs 25 lakh compensation for the loss of life and a government job to the next of kin of the family of the deceased,” he said.
Inderjeet Singh Ghania,another leader of the union said that the government takes notice of the stubble burning incidents in just five minutes by using satellites,but it has failed to take notice of the damage of the cross by the floods in Punjab.
Many farmers attended the special meeting held in Faridkot today.

The union also said that the floods have displaced thousands of the shopkeepers ,workers and small traders and they must be compensated.
