Faridkot Police Busts Dacoity Gang Planning Highway Loot, 5 Arrested

Under its “Zero Crime Tolerance” policy, Faridkot Police has allegedly busted a gang that was planning dacoity on the National Highway and arrested five persons.

SSP Faridkot Gurubans Singh Bains said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.

According to a press note issued from the Office of Senior Superintendent of Police, Faridkot today, the action was taken under the directions of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav and IG Faridkot Range Nilambari Jagdale , and under the supervision of SSP Faridkot Gurubans Singh Bains and SP (Investigation) Narinder Singh.

The case has been registered as FIR No. 228 dated 17.09.2026 under Sections 310(4), 310(5) BNS at Police Station Sadar Kotkapura.

Giving details of the case, police said that on September 18, 2026, ASI Sukhmeet Singh 225/GRP along with police party was on patrolling and checking of suspicious persons at Bus Stand Village Dhilwan Kalan.

“During this, a secret informer allegedly tipped off that five persons – Karmjit Singh alias Baba, Rajwinder Singh alias Chatta, Jalwinder Singh alias Jalla, Boota Singh and Amritpal Singh alias Babbu – had allegedly assembled and were hiding in a deserted bushy area in the fields of village Dhilwan, about one kilometer away from National Highway-54 Bathinda-Amritsar on Kothe Darjian Wali link road, and were allegedly planning to commit loot and dacoity. It was also claimed that they possessed deadly weapons,”said Gurbans Singh Bains,SSP Faridkot.

“Taking the information seriously, the police party allegedly raided the spot and apprehended all the accused,”he added.

As per police records, Karamjit Singh alias Baba and Amritpal Singh alias Babbu allegedly have three criminal cases each already registered against them at various police stations.

Police said the arrested accused are being produced before the court and their remand is being obtained for in-depth interrogation.

SSP Bains said that during interrogation, besides their alleged criminal activities, the police are also investigating other members involved in the gang and other alleged criminal incidents committed by the group from every angle, as claimed.
