Jagjeet Singh Dallewal, state president of the BKU Sidhupur Ekta on Tuesday demanded compensation for the wheat crop damaged by the fires, hailstorms and Karnal bunt disease in Muktsar and Fatehgarh districts.

He said that farm fires have burned thousands of acres of standing wheat crop and at some places, untimely rains and hailstorms have also led to huge loss of the farmers.

But the government has not initiated Girdawari to assess the damage so far,Dallewal said in a press note to the media today.

He announced that SKM Non political would hold Dharnas at district headquarters in Punjab,Haryana and Rajasthan in this regard besides a thorough inquiry and compensation for the stolen agricultural appliances at Kisan Morcha on May 2.

He further termed the Pahalgam incident very unfortunate and sought to get justice for the accepted families.

He further said that his union appealed to the union government that no representative of the state government would be allowed to join the meeting of May 4.

It should be solely between the farmers’ outfits and the union government.

Review meeting soon.

He outrightly dismissed the allegations levelled against him and others during farm agitation and said that a review meeting in this regard would be held soon.

If anyone has any proof or evidenceĀ in this regard, he can come up with it, otherwise the people should desist from levelling baseless allegations, Dallewal said.
