Unnecessarily affidavits attested by the executive magistrate are demanded at per the whimsy of the various departments/officers
At Sewa Kendra Kotkapaura, when you enter it, you are welcomed by a poster by the government of Punjab that the government would come to your door steps for any work, but the situation is otherwise.
On March 6, 2026, the work at sewa Kendra Kotkapura was going on only at two counters.
Otherwise there are four counters at the seva Kendra at Kotkapura.
“Two employees have been shifted to the other temporary counter where the Punjab government is issuing the Rs 10 lakh health insurance cards,’ claimed an official who had only visited after the problem was brought in to the notice of the DC Faridkot with photographs, just to eye wash the complainant.
But the instructions of the DC Faridkot were almost ignored here in tehsil complex for the all the people.
There was hardly anyone or any queue before that counter, outside of the buildings of the complex of the sub divisional magistrate. But on the other hand, over 35 people could be seen waiting for their turn for different works.
The government says that all your works would be done at home if you apply as per the government instructions. But situation is worse here. Even by visiting the Sewa Centre, one has to wait for long people can be heard to talk to each other.
When bought to the notice of the DC Faridkot, Punamdeep Kaur, she immediately asked for the check up of the situation by the SDM, but there was no reprieve for the common man. They continued to wait for longer periods of time, even at the screen, once it showed that the processing time was longer than one hour.

The problem of the unnecessarily affidavits, attested by the magistrate, demanded duly attested by the various departments at per its whims.
There is also a problem that there are no clear cut instructions about where the affidavits attested by the executive magistrate are required.
If depends allegedly depends from officer to officer and office to office.
If you have to get an affidavit attested by the magistrate, it is much time consuming process.
For it, first of all one has to buy the affidavit, then get it typed, then approach the nambardars or sarpanch to verify that it you, again another witness is required to verify it, then you have to wait for long time at a sewa Kendra for having completed all the formalities and if your are getting it dome at a town, you may get it next day.But if you are having it done at a village, you may have to wait for two days.
There must be clear instruction by the state government where the affidavits attested by the magistrate, or by a notary or self declarations are required. If this is duly followed, it would also unburden the sewa kendras, tehsildars and applicants.

Advocate Ashu Mittal speak.
When contacted, senior advocate Ashu Mittal said that there is hardly any difference between the attestation by the Notary public, Oath commissioners and Executive magistrate .”When the government has authorized the notary public and oath commissioner, what difference is there? They all have to identify a person, not the content,” said Ashu Mittal.
“There are no clear cut ins turions about in. It all depends on the officers and departments. Nowadays, you are not required to reach everybody. Just submit your affidavit and it is unto the government to verify it online. But getting an affidavit attested from a magistrate, is a time consuming process while notary public charges his fees and duly attest the affidavit,” said Mittal.
The system suits more and more formalities which exhaust the people and then they come forwards to pay gratitude by folded hands.
If there are less formalities and less consumption of time, they common man may not grease the palms of the officers for their even genuine works.
But this red tape turns the people against the current government which is called anti establishment.
