The wide rift between the state congress party’s two factions came out to play in Faridkot where the three former contestants of the Punjab assembly elections of 2022 remained absent from public meeting addressed by Punjab state congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Bhupesh Baghel,the in charge of the affairs of the state.
“Who killed the congress.I did not.It was killed by the former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh who used to visit the riches and the workers and the other office bearers waited for hours.He used to eat fish and meat and sometimes fed his former female friend Sita Fal,” Warring alleged in Faridkot.
“There are the three assembly seats of the district Faridkot and three of former contestants said that they had some work and did not come here,” Warring said noting that former Faridkot,Kotkapura Jaitu constituency contestants remained absent.
He apparently referred to former Faridkot MLA and CPS Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon and Ajaypal Singh Sandhu.
“Here are some in whose hands I have played. They are very big and Opinder sharma is one of them.He is the former minister but he was invaded at his house.Jagmeet Singh Brar got a ticket from Kotkapura to his brother Ripjit Singh Brar,but Opinder Sharma did not leave the congress. He still contributes from Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh yearly or so to the account of the congress as funds,’ Raja warring said.
Raja compared the common workers to the Desi cows and the senior congress leaders, because of those some of the congressmen left congress “Americans”.
“These are Desi cows, means workers of the congress party and some of the Americans made them leave the congress.Now we have brought them back,’ warring said in a veiled reference to the former minister Avtar Singh Brar’s son Navdeep Singh Brar .Avtar Brar had left the congress because of the captain Amarinder Singh cutting him to size and and joined SAD,” Warring said.
“Actually, I had not empowered the district presidents and the workers. The system worked from the house of the MLAs.If I were elected an MLA, all the system was run from my house,” he said.
Raja Warring also said that Beant Singh was the chief minister who used to visit the block level people and was well connected to them.
Warring also elaborated his wins and defeats of the party under the congress regime when captain Amarinder Singh was at the helm.
He said that Malwa elects the CMs and we have won four seats from Malwa for the parliament.
But on the other hand, former Faridkot MLA and CPS Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon alleged that according to the Punjab Pradesh Congress letter, all the former contestants of the assembly segments had to be invited,but they were not.
“Most of us, about 80 per cent of the workers,office workers and us were not invited,” alleged Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon said.
“You announce on the stages that these people would not be given party tickets, this is highly objectionable.We don’t not challenge the authority of yours,but you canmot announce so publically.You did not invite us most of the party loyalists,” Dhillon said in a facebook post.
It is pertinent to mention that Dhillon is allegedly loyal to the Channi faction.Channi had earlier visited Faridkot and joined the strike by the Faridkot lawyers where Dhillon was present.
