Raghbir Singh Brar Faridkot Vigilance Bureau recovers Rs 1.34 lakh in cash during search Faridkot May 19 Further strengthening the Punjab Government’s zero tolerance policy against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Gurpreet Singh, a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) posted at Faridkot, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,600. During the operation, the Vigilance Bureau team recovered Rs 7,200 from his possession and also recovered another cash of Rs 1,26,500 from his vehicle, which appears to be the bribe amount. A spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the arrest was made following a complaint by a resident of Faridkot, who alleged that the said accused had demanded Rs 1,800 per truck for approving the fitness certificates of two of his trucks....

Raghbir Singh Brar Faridkot Parmjeet Singh son of Bachan Singh was alleegdly killed by his son Pargat Singh on late Thursday evening. "The accused hit his father on his head with a blunt wooden log last night after some altercation. The accused Pargat Singh is allegedly mentally upset and was being treated for the same," the locals said. He is also a drug addict according to the family members and village residents. Akashdeep Singh,who had been recruited as an Agnivir little less than 2 years ago, was killed on duty in Jammu on Thursday morning. Two Jawans were killed on duty Thursday including Akashdeep Singh and another from Amritsar district. The deceased had just come to his village on April 12 and left to join the duty on april 17.
